Lazzara Yachts and Volvo Penta began work in early 2006 and combined their respective talents to create a yacht that sets new performance standards, yet remains pragmatic for conventional use. The LSX fuel efficiency enables it to sustain a 35-knot top speed and be out of sight before it’s out of fuel. As a result, planning a voyage based on a range of about 400 nautical miles at a cruising speed of 31 knots is nothing but pure pleasure!
The weeks of testing by Volvo Penta engineers conducted with Lazzara’s team exceeded all safety expectations. On three engines, the boat reached 27 knots; on two, she reached 18 knots; and one engine, there was enough power and steerage to navigate safely.
If calm and quiet rides are a priority, then the LSX will soothe the senses. The hull was designed especially for the four forward-facing props, thus creating incredible stability. When the power sunroof is closed, the outside noise is negligible. And when the sunroof opens, the main cabin pressure remains constant.
Enjoying the outdoors while underway is equally comfortable. The roar and vibrations typically expected on this size yacht don’t exist with the Volvo Penta IPS drives and engines. Furthermore, the clean, modern D-6 600 coupled with the underwater exhaust eliminate soot, smoke and fumes, so the hull stays cleaner and safety is preserved no matter what your choice of recreation.
With the Volvo Penta IPS system, pulling dockside is easier than parallel parking a car. Many large yacht operators feel that entering and leaving the dock is the most stressful part of the day. But moving the LSX in any direction takes only the simple push or pull of the joystick controller. In a different context, the IPS requires just 187 meters for a full turn – that’s about 1/3 less room than comparable inboards thanks to Volvo Penta’s IPS technology including the industry’s first steer by wire system.
