Cadillac officially announced they plan to introduce a new compact luxury sports sedan next summer. What they didn’t announce is whether or not Kate Walsh will narrate the commercial.
Without a doubt, the new compact luxury sports sedan (codename ATS) is Cadillac’s intention to directly compete against the BMW 3-Series, Mercedes-Benz C-Class and Audi A4 in the largest segment of the luxury market.
While there is still a lot of mystery behind the ATS, what we do know is that the ATS is smaller than the Cadillac CTS, the brand’s mid-sized sedan and will ride on a new rear-wheel-drive platform dubbed Alpha.
Additionally, the ATS is expected to offer a mix of four-cylinder and V-6 engines, some turbocharged, and manual transmissions should also be available. All-wheel drive will be on the order sheet, too.
Like the CTS, the ATS will be assembled at the Cadillac assembly plant in Lansing, Michigan. Recently, GM announced a $190 million investment to build the compact luxury sports sedan at its Lansing Grand River Assembly Plant that will result in 600 new and retained jobs.
For those waiting to catch a glimpse of the ATS in action, it’s possible it will debut as early as this August at the Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance. However, for the rest of us, we’ll just have to wait.
